Our Story

My husband and I planned to start a retirement journey that was to begin with selling everything and buying a boat. The grand plan was to go to the Virgin Islands well, hurricane Irma altered that float plan. We do still live on the boat, but in Longboat Key, FL. So that brings me to the invention of SCRAM. Anyone who gets bit by No-See-Ums knows that it can ruin almost any situation. Dinners at the beach, golfing, happy hours, fishing, walks on the beach, and sunsets. Living in the marina gave us a captive test market to refine the formula until everyone said, IT WORKS,  Most people even claimed that if they forgot to apply and did get bit that they experienced itch relief and a soothing sensation. We started with as little as three oils and finalized the formula with nine. Word spread rapidly and we would have people knocking on the boat for a bottle of SCRAM. I am officially the bug lady. Imagine making anything in quantities on a boat. We needed another solution and we found a win-win. A way to manufacture and give back to the community at the same time. SCRAM was manufactured for us by “The Haven” in Sarasota, FL. “From our very beginning, SCRAM Products has been a mission-driven company. We proudly launched our brand in partnership with Haven, a wonderful school providing vocational opportunities for developmentally challenged adults, who helped us manufacture our early production runs. No see ums and other biting bugs are a problem where I live, but I refuse to spray poison on my skin to avoid being bit!  I’ve tried every kind of safe and natural remedy I can find but unfortunately have still needed to seek shelter indoors when the bugs come out.  Scram is the first natural repellent that has worked reliably for me.   • How do I apply the product for maximum results?

    A little goes a long way, but must be applied everywhere. It will rub on as a thick white cream. Keep rubbing and spreading until it is absorbed into the skin. It will not leave an oily film that can get on furniture or clothing. No-See-Ums like to get in your hair so it can be applied to your face and hair.

  • Can I mix it with sunscreen?

    Yes, but apply the sunscreen first so that it can fully absorb for its maximum effectiveness. Then apply SCRAM for your perfect outdoor experience.

  • Is it waterproof?

    Yes, if you have it on in the pool, they will not bother you but I suggest reapplying after you dry off.

  • Is it safe for children?

    Yes, in all of my research regarding the essential oils doctors do recommend not using some essential oils on children under 2 years of age. However, the amounts in this formula have not proven to be a problem for babies under 2 years of age.
